I have used remembered phrases from The Bible and linked them with sections of a prayer by Columba. The original is A3 size. A folded pen (sometimes referred to as a "Butterfly" was used for lettering and for the cross design. The prayer is written in blue, and the other text in Sepia-both are F.W Acrylic ink. The paper was Saunders Waterford. I find that when writing religious or other texts the materials, colour, and the equipment used helps in the discovery and presentation of meaning.
